git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mchehab/linux-media Pull media updates from Mauro Carvalho Chehab: - Removal of several VB1-only deprecated drivers: cpia2, fsl-viu, meye, stkwebcam, tm6000, vpfe_capture and zr364xx - saa7146 recovered from staging/deprecated. We opted to give ti a chance, and, instead of deprecating it, the intention is to write patches migrating it from VB1 to VB2. - av7110 returned from staging/deprecated/ to staging/ as we're not planning on dropping it any time soon - media controller API has gained experimental support for G_ROUTING and streams API. No drivers use it right now. We're planning to add one after -rc1, giving some time to experience the API and eventually have changes during the next development cycle - New sensor drivers: imx296, imx415, ov8858 - Atomisp had lots of changes, specially on its sensor's interface, making atomisp sensor drivers closer to normal sensor drivers - media controller kAPI has gained some helpers to traverse pipelines - uvcvideo now better support power line control - lots of bug fixes, cleanups and driver improvements * tag 'media/v6.3-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mchehab/linux-media: (296 commits) media: imx-mipi-csis: Check csis_fmt validity before use media: v4l2-subdev.c: clear stream field media: v4l2-ctrls-api.c: move ctrl->is_new = 1 to the correct line media: Revert "media: saa7146: deprecate hexium_gemini/orion, mxb and ttpci" media: Revert "media: av7110: move to staging/media/deprecated/saa7146" media: imx-pxp: convert to regmap media: imx-pxp: Use non-threaded IRQ media: imx-pxp: Introduce pxp_read() and pxp_write() wrappers media: imx-pxp: Implement frame size enumeration media: imx-pxp: Pass pixel format value to find_format() media: imx-pxp: Add media controller support media: imx-pxp: Don't set bus_info manually in .querycap() media: imx-pxp: Sort headers alphabetically media: imx-pxp: add support for i.MX7D media: imx-pxp: make data_path_ctrl0 platform dependent media: imx-pxp: disable LUT block media: imx-pxp: explicitly disable unused blocks media: imx-pxp: extract helper function to setup data path media: imx-pxp: detect PXP version media: dt-bindings: media: fsl-pxp: convert to yaml ...

2023-01-22media: cpia2: remove deprecated driverGravatar Hans Verkuil 2-57/+0
The cpia2 driver does not use the vb2 framework for streaming video, instead it implements this in the driver. This is error prone, and nobody stepped in to convert this driver to that framework. The hardware is very old, so the decision was made to remove it altogether. Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil-cisco@xs4all.nl> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@kernel.org>
2023-01-12media: davinci: remove vpbe supportGravatar Arnd Bergmann 2-40/+0

2022-08-29media: avoid use of 'videobuf'Gravatar Hans Verkuil 1-1/+1

2020-12-02media: ccs: Add the generator for CCS register definitions and limitsGravatar Sakari Ailus 2-0/+1474
Add register definitions of the MIPI CCS 1.1 standard. The CCS driver makes extended use of device's capability registers that are dependent on CCS version. This involves having an in-memory data structure for limit and capability information, creating that data structure and accessing it. The register definitions as well as the definitions of this data structure are generated from a text file using a Perl script. Add the generator script to make it easy to update the generated files. PVRUSB2 VIDEO4LINUX DRIVER: Replace HTTP links with HTTPS ones Rationale: Reduces attack surface on kernel devs opening the links for MITM as HTTPS traffic is much harder to manipulate. Deterministic algorithm: For each file: If not .svg: For each line: If doesn't contain `\bxmlns\b`: If neither `\bgnu\.org/license`, nor `\bmozilla\.org/MPL\b`: If both the HTTP and HTTPS versions return 200 OK and serve the same content: Replace HTTP with HTTPS. 2020-07-04media: samsung: Rename Samsung and Exynos to lowercaseGravatar Krzysztof Kozlowski 1-1/+1
Fix up inconsistent usage of upper and lowercase letters in "Samsung" and "Exynos" names. "SAMSUNG" and "EXYNOS" are not abbreviations but regular trademarked names. Therefore they should be written with lowercase letters starting with capital letter. The lowercase "Exynos" name is promoted by its manufacturer Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., in advertisement materials and on website. Although advertisement materials usually use uppercase "SAMSUNG", the lowercase version is used in all legal aspects (e.g. on Wikipedia and in privacy/legal statements on https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/privacy-global/). 2020-04-15media: docs: cleanup bttv-devel.rst fileGravatar Mauro Carvalho Chehab 1-30/+23
This file was converted from text at the early ReST days. We learnt a lot about how to produce a nicer result while keeping the file better readable as plain text. Change some ReST markups to make it look better, both at the output formats and as plain text file. While here, remove references for the old bt848/winutil tool, as it seems that it doesn't exist anymore. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+huawei@kernel.org>
2020-04-15media: docs: Add a master topic for the index fileGravatar Mauro Carvalho Chehab 1-30/+7
Right now, both V4L and Digital TV are shown as main titles. Instead, add a main title, in order to better display its output. While here, simplify the file, as we don't need to add a title for the indexes, nor we need copyright info, as everything there is GPL, as stated by the SPDX tags. 2020-04-14media: docs: move driver-specific info to driver-apiGravatar Mauro Carvalho Chehab 17-0/+5551
Those documents don't really describe the driver API. Instead, they contain development-specific information. Yet, as the main index file describes the content of it as: "how specific kernel subsystems work from the point of view of a kernel developer" It seems to be the better fit.
