2023-04-11media: rtl2832_sdr: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidGravatar Uwe Kleine-König 1-4/+2
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. Instead of filling in the struct v4l2_capability device_caps field, fill in the struct video_device device_caps field. That way the V4L2 core knows what the capabilities of the video device are. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mchehab/linux-media Pull new experimental media request API from Mauro Carvalho Chehab: "A new media request API This API is needed to support device drivers that can dynamically change their parameters for each new frame. The latest versions of Google camera and codec HAL depends on such feature. At this stage, it supports only stateless codecs. It has been discussed for a long time (at least over the last 3-4 years), and we finally reached to something that seem to work. This series contain both the API and core changes required to support it and a new m2m decoder driver (cedrus). As the current API is still experimental, the only real driver using it (cedrus) was added at staging[1]. We intend to keep it there for a while, in order to test the API. Only when we're sure that this API works for other cases (like encoders), we'll move this driver out of staging and set the API into a stone. 2016-05-04[media] rtl2832: change the i2c gate to be mux-lockedGravatar Peter Rosin 1-6/+7
The root i2c adapter lock is then no longer held by the i2c mux during accesses behind the i2c gate, and such accesses need to take that lock just like any other ordinary i2c accesses do. So, declare the i2c gate mux-locked, and zap the regmap overrides that makes the i2c accesses unlocked and use plain old regmap accesses. This also removes the need for the regmap wrappers used by rtl2832_sdr, so deconvolute the code further and provide the regmap handle directly instead of the wrapper functions. 2015-12-18[media] vb2: drop v4l2_format argument from queue_setupGravatar Hans Verkuil 1-1/+1
The queue_setup callback has a void pointer that is just for V4L2 and is the pointer to the v4l2_format struct that was passed to VIDIOC_CREATE_BUFS. The idea was that drivers would use the information from that struct to buffers suitable for the requested format. After the vb2 split series this pointer is now a void pointer, which is ugly, and the reality is that all existing drivers will effectively just look at the sizeimage field of v4l2_format. To make this more generic the queue_setup callback is changed: the void pointer is dropped, instead if the *num_planes argument is 0, then use the current format size, if it is non-zero, then it contains the number of requested planes and the sizes array contains the requested sizes. If either is unsupported, then return -EINVAL, otherwise use the requested size(s). Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hans.verkuil@cisco.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@osg.samsung.com>
