2023-06-15mfd: stmfx: Nullify stmfx->vdd in case of errorGravatar Amelie Delaunay 1-3/+2
Nullify stmfx->vdd in case devm_regulator_get_optional() returns an error. And simplify code by returning an error only if return code is not -ENODEV, which means there is no vdd regulator and it is not an issue. 2023-06-15mfd: stmfx: Fix error path in stmfx_chip_initGravatar Amelie Delaunay 1-1/+1
In error path, disable vdd regulator if it exists, but don't overload ret. Because if regulator_disable() is successful, stmfx_chip_init will exit successfully while chip init failed. 2023-06-15mfd: Switch i2c drivers back to use .probe()Gravatar Uwe Kleine-König 1-1/+1
After commit b8a1a4cd5a98 ("i2c: Provide a temporary .probe_new() call-back type"), all drivers being converted to .probe_new() and then 03c835f498b5 ("i2c: Switch .probe() to not take an id parameter") convert back to (the new) .probe() to be able to eventually drop .probe_new() from struct i2c_driver. 2022-12-07mfd: stmfx: Remove #ifdef guards for PM related functionsGravatar Paul Cercueil 1-4/+2
Use the new DEFINE_SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS() and pm_sleep_ptr() macros to handle the .suspend/.resume callbacks. These macros allow the suspend and resume functions to be automatically dropped by the compiler when CONFIG_SUSPEND is disabled, without having to use #ifdef guards. This has the advantage of always compiling these functions in, independently of any Kconfig option. Thanks to that, bugs and other regressions are subsequently easier to catch. 2022-12-07mfd: stmfx: Convert to i2c's .probe_new()Gravatar Uwe Kleine-König 1-3/+2
The probe function doesn't make use of the i2c_device_id * parameter so it can be trivially converted. Signed-off-by: Uwe Kleine-König <u.kleine-koenig@pengutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Lee Jones <lee@kernel.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20221118224540.619276-461-uwe@kleine-koenig.org
2022-08-16i2c: Make remove callback return voidGravatar Uwe Kleine-König 1-3/+1
The value returned by an i2c driver's remove function is mostly ignored. (Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the error is ignored.) So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly. There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to return 0 before. 2022-03-08mfd: stmfx: Improve error message triggered by regulator fault in .remove()Gravatar Uwe Kleine-König 1-5/+12
Returning a non-zero value in an i2c remove callback results in the i2c core emitting a very generic error message ("remove failed (-ESOMETHING), will be ignored") and as the message indicates not further error handling is done. Instead emit a more specific error message and then return zero in .remove(). The long-term goal is to make the i2c remove prototype return void, making all implementations return 0 is preparatory work for this change. 2020-11-27mfd: stmfx: Drop of_match_ptr from of_device_id tableGravatar Krzysztof Kozlowski 1-1/+1
The driver can match only via the DT table so the table should be always used and the of_match_ptr does not have any sense (this also allows ACPI matching via PRP0001, even though it is not relevant here). This fixes compile warning (!CONFIG_OF on x86_64): drivers/mfd/stmfx.c:542:34: warning: ‘stmfx_of_match’ defined but not used [-Wunused-const-variable=] Signed-off-by: Krzysztof Kozlowski <krzk@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Lee Jones <lee.jones@linaro.org>

2020-09-30mfd: stmfx: Simplify with dev_err_probe()Gravatar Krzysztof Kozlowski 1-5/+3

2020-05-26mfd: stmfx: Disable IRQ in suspend to avoid spurious interruptGravatar Amelie Delaunay 1-0/+6
When STMFX supply is stopped, spurious interrupt can occur. To avoid that, disable the interrupt in suspend before disabling the regulator and re-enable it at the end of resume. 2019-06-24mfd: stmfx: Fix an endian bug in stmfx_irq_handler()Gravatar Dan Carpenter 1-1/+3
It's not okay to cast a "u32 *" to "unsigned long *" when you are doing a for_each_set_bit() loop because that will break on big endian systems. Fixes: 386145601b82 ("mfd: stmfx: Uninitialized variable in stmfx_irq_handler()") Reported-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Dan Carpenter <dan.carpenter@oracle.com> Tested-by: Amelie Delaunay <amelie.delaunay@st.com> Signed-off-by: Lee Jones <lee.jones@linaro.org>
2019-06-17mfd: stmfx: Uninitialized variable in stmfx_irq_handler()Gravatar Dan Carpenter 1-6/+4
The problem is that on 64bit systems then we don't clear the higher bits of the "pending" variable. So when we do: ack = pending & ~BIT(STMFX_REG_IRQ_SRC_EN_GPIO); if (ack) { the if (ack) condition relies on uninitialized data. The fix it that I've changed "pending" from an unsigned long to a u32. I changed "n" as well, because that's a number in the 0-10 range and it fits easily inside an int. We do need to add a cast to "pending" when we use it in the for_each_set_bit() loop, but that doesn't cause a problem, it's fine. STMicroelectronics Multi-Function eXpander (STMFX) is a slave controller using I2C for communication with the main MCU. Main features are: - 16 fast GPIOs individually configurable in input/output - 8 alternate GPIOs individually configurable in input/output when other STMFX functions are not used - Main MCU IDD measurement - Resistive touchscreen controller Signed-off-by: Amelie Delaunay <amelie.delaunay@st.com> Signed-off-by: Lee Jones <lee.jones@linaro.org>
