2017-03-02sched/headers: Prepare to move signal wakeup & sigpending methods from ↵Gravatar Ingo Molnar 1-0/+1
<linux/sched.h> into <linux/sched/signal.h> Fix up affected files that include this signal functionality via sched.h. Acked-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org> Cc: Mike Galbraith <efault@gmx.de> Cc: Peter Zijlstra <peterz@infradead.org> Cc: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Cc: linux-kernel@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@kernel.org>
2016-12-24Replace <asm/uaccess.h> with <linux/uaccess.h> globallyGravatar Linus Torvalds 1-1/+1
This was entirely automated, using the script by Al: PATT='^[[:blank:]]*#[[:blank:]]*include[[:blank:]]*<asm/uaccess.h>' sed -i -e "s!$PATT!#include <linux/uaccess.h>!" \ $(git grep -l "$PATT"|grep -v ^include/linux/uaccess.h) to do the replacement at the end of the merge window. 2014-01-14sound: oss: dmasound: kill SLEEP() macro to avoid raceGravatar Arnd Bergmann 1-9/+19
The use of interruptible_sleep_on_timeout in the dmasound driver is questionable and we want to kill off all sleep_on variants. This replaces the calls with wait_event_interruptible_timeout where possible, to wait for a particular event instead of blocking in a racy way. In the sq_write function, the easiest solution is an open-coded prepare_to_wait loop. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2013-04-29dmasound_core: saner arguments for sq_fsync()Gravatar Al Viro 1-3/+3
it is not (and it has never been) an ->fsync() instance... Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

2010-09-14sound: autoconvert trivial BKL users to private mutexGravatar Arnd Bergmann 1-20/+21
The usage of the BKL in the OSS sound drivers is trivial, and each of them only locks against itself, so it can be turned into per-driver mutexes. This is the script that was used for the conversion: file=$1 name=$2 if grep -q lock_kernel ${file} ; then if grep -q 'include.*linux.mutex.h' ${file} ; then sed -i '/include.*<linux\/smp_lock.h>/d' ${file} else sed -i 's/include.*<linux\/smp_lock.h>.*$/include <linux\/mutex.h>/g' ${file} fi sed -i ${file} \ -e "/^#include.*linux.mutex.h/,$ { 1,/^\(static\|int\|long\)/ { /^\(static\|int\|long\)/istatic DEFINE_MUTEX(${name}_mutex); } }" \ -e "s/\(un\)*lock_kernel\>[ ]*()/mutex_\1lock(\&${name}_mutex)/g" \ -e '/[ ]*cycle_kernel_lock();/d' else sed -i -e '/include.*\<smp_lock.h\>/d' ${file} \ -e '/cycle_kernel_lock()/d' fi Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2010-07-12sound/oss: convert to unlocked_ioctlGravatar Arnd Bergmann 1-7/+28
These are the final conversions for the ioctl file operation so we can remove it in the next merge window. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2010-07-12sound: push BKL into open functionsGravatar Arnd Bergmann 1-6/+22
This moves the lock_kernel() call from soundcore_open to the individual OSS device drivers, where we can deal with it one driver at a time if needed, or just kill off the drivers. All core components in ALSA already provide adequate locking in their open()-functions and do not require the big kernel lock, so there is no need to add the BKL there. 2009-11-07sound: Replace old style lock initializerGravatar Thomas Gleixner 1-1/+3
SPIN_LOCK_UNLOCKED is deprecated. Use __SPIN_LOCK_UNLOCKED instead. Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2008-11-01oss: fix O_NONBLOCK in dmasound_coreGravatar Al Viro 1-2/+2
We broke O_NONBLOCK handling in OSS dmasound_core in 2.3.11-pre3 - the original code copied f_flags to open_mode and then checked for O_NONBLOCK in there, but that got changed to copying f_mode and O_NONBLOCK has not reached that field in any kernel version. Since we do not care for any other bits, the fix is obvious... Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2007-02-12[PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 9Gravatar Arjan van de Ven 1-3/+3
Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources. 2006-03-25[PATCH] Remove MODULE_PARMGravatar Rusty Russell 1-5/+5
MODULE_PARM was actually breaking: recent gcc version optimize them out as unused. It's time to replace the last users, which are generally in the most unloved drivers anyway. 2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2Gravatar Linus Torvalds 1-0/+1829
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
